In 1936 the Party began to call the service pistol the 'Honor Weapon of the Political Leaders'. The Reichszeugmeisterei was created by a Presidential decree of Decemstating that manufacturers and sellers of NSDAP uniforms, equipment and insignia were required to hold a permit ('Erlaubnis') in order to display the classic RZM protection mark commencing on January 16, 1935. I am hesitant to agree that the Schutzzeichen marked PPKs' were the first to wear Party Leader grips since there exists no documentation to confirm this.
